Torch Club and Keystone Club

Torch Club

The Torch Club is a chartered small-group leadership and service club for boys and

girls ages 11-13 focusing on character development.  A Torch Club is a powerful

vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special needs of younger

adolescents at a critical stage in their development.  Torch Club members learn to

elect officers and work together to plan and implement activities in four areas:

service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.

Torch Club meetings are held on Monday from 5:00pm-6:00pm beginning on

September 13.

Keystone Club

Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement's most dynamic teen program.  Keystone Clubs are chartered leadership and service clubs for boys and girls ages 14-18.  Keystoners elect officers and implement activities in six areas: service to Club and community, character and leadership development, education and career exploration, unity, free enterprise and social recreation.  Meetings will be held on Tuesdays from 5:00pm - 6:00pm at the Hurricane Academy beginning on September 9th.

Keystone Officers:

President  -  Wyshika Turner          Treasurer - Irvin Jenkins

Vice Pres  -  Ciara Baker                Recorder  - Irvin Jenkins

Secretary -   Quawinda Pulley        Sergeant of Arms -  Mitchell Stewart

Money Matters

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13-18 by building their basic money management skills. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest.  They also learn about starting small businesses and paying for college.

Howard University Weekend

The Keystone Club wants to give a shout out to the North Carolina Club at Howard for a great weekend.  We really enjoyed the experience of interacting with college students and being a part of campus life.  This was by far the best visit that we have attended.  Thanks to all of the students that took time out of their schedules to show us a great time.  Until next year....
