Power Hour!
Our
homework program occurs Monday - Thursday from 2:30-6:00. Members can receive help
with their homework during those hours from staff and volunteers.

Each member is required to spend at least thirty minutes each day on their
homework or reading a book. At the end of each month, the Raleigh Girls
Club has a Power Hour Party. The Power Hour Party is a reward for members
who have earned over 30 points via reading books, completing curriculum work
given by staff members, and finishing their homework.

CentsAbility
A Girl Scouts of America program, is held for Junior
members. The purpose of this project is to implement key concepts and
skills related to personal money management.
As they explore the relationship between lifestyle and occupational choices and
imagine themselves as young adults, they learn the all-important balancing act
between income and expenses as they create and balance their budgets.
I, Too, Have A Dream
An intergenerational poetry program brings
together girls and college students from North Carolina State University to
write and perform original poetry.
The main goals of the program are to enable girls
to learn about and celebrate their culture and to enable girls to think
critically about themselves and their environment. This program has been
derived from a program used by other United Way organization in Memphis,
Tennessee.
The girls communicate with upperclassmen and
graduate students at North Carolina State University via email using
gaggle.net, a non-profit email distributor
designed for the use of schools and non profit organizations. After
completion of the project, the ladies will have an opportunity to meet with
their e-pals and share their poetry with the group.
